Leadership and Public Administration. She is currently a Resident Director at Centenary College.
She brings her extensive experience working with RAs and youth to our Spotlight program this
summer. She has also worked both for marketing firms and the music business. She even hosted
a live radio show for two years. She has a love for higher education and working with students and
she is thrilled to direct our program this summer.
Lauren B. Gould - Writer's Workshop
Lauren is currently completing her Masters at the nationally renowned University of Iowa’s Writers
Workshop. Lauren acted as both Editor-in-Chief and Literary Editor for the Windhover Literary & Arts
Magazine. She is currently the Assistant Poetry Editor for the Iowa Review. Lauren has also been
published in The Southern Poetry Anthology and Miscellany. Lauren’s mother is an alumna of
Salem Academy and College, and Lauren is very excited to be teaching here this summer.
Jessica L. Prunty - Fine Arts
After earning her Bachelor of Education / Art Education from the University of Toledo, Jessica
pursued her Masters in the same field at Ohio State University. Jessica currently teaches a wide
variety of art classes in the high school environment. She has revised our traditional Fine Arts
course to include exciting explorations in 3-D. Jessica also has an extensive amount of camp
experience and will be brining her great energy with her.
Deborah Edwards - Fashion Design
Deborah is joining us this summer and is bringing her extensive amount of knowledge of the
fashion industry. Deborah is currently a teacher in North Carolina, but has had many years of
experience working with large fashion companies. She has a great deal of experience in both
retail and wholesale sectors, and has traveled as a Fashion Director. Deborah is a lovely woman,
who we know all of our students will absolutely love.
Andrea M. Marritt, Ph.D. and Stephanie Hudson - Forensic Science
It is a pleasure to welcome back two Salem alumnae to teach Forensic Science at Spotlight this
summer. Andrea M. Marritt, Ph.D. graduated from Salem Academy and Stephanie Hudson

Department of Biology at Meredith College, a women’s college in Raleigh, NC.
Stephanie graduated from Salem College with her B.S. in Biology. She has since received her MEd
in Biology from Averett University. Stephanie teaches science to grades 6 – 8 in Virginia. She is very
excited to have the opportunity to return to her alma mater and share her love of science with
