How do I get to Salem Spotlight?Salem Academy and College is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. While many families drive to Spotlight, we do offer safe and convenient airport pick-up and drop-off service for those who choose to fly. This service is currently offered to those using the Greensboro Piedmont Triad Airport (GSO). Are there organized activities during free time?Yes! In addition to organized activities, students can also use the computer labs, swim in the pool, or even explore our athletic facilities and track. For many of our students, just relaxing, playing games, hanging out in the quad, or even taking naps in their rooms is the perfect way to end a rewarding day. Will I have access to computer labs? Can I use my cell phone?Yes - students may use computer labs and phones to touch base with friends and families. However, to help girls get to know and trust the students and staff surrounding them at Spotlight, we limit phone and lab use. RAs collect all cell phones on opening day, and students may use these every third evening as well as on field trips. Students may use the computer labs in afternoon and evening free time. This is our daughter’s first sleep-away; is this program suited for us?Yes! Our staff is extremely well trained, and monitoring the experience of our first-time students is one of our top priorities. Each student rooms with another of the same age, and our well-trained staff serve as role models, confidantes, and advisors. Our careful attention to our students’ surroundings creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for everyone. Our number one goal is to keep the girls fully engaged and academically challenged within the framework of a safe, nurturing environment. It seems very academic; will camp be fun?Yes! We know our students are on summer break and that they need to have fun, especially if they are going to learn. We offer plenty of activities, movies, games, and after-hours events; campers and counselors have a fantastic time. Where is the welcome pack? What is the student profile? The welcome pack arrives in your email inbox on the same day that you register online. The email includes important program information, a link to the student profile, and an attached PDF with rules, forms, and directions to Salem. The student profile allows us to match roommates and helps us know our students before they arrive at the program. The student profile must be completed online no later than June 1. |
