Grab a pair of examination gloves, and get ready to explore one of the fastest growing and most
exciting fields in science. As popular television attest, criminal investigations have become a national obsession; but in the real world, there is much more to the practice of Forensic Science. This course offers an introduction to crime scene investigation, including the techniques and tools used for gathering and analyzing evidence.

Students dive into forensics, learning through case studies and mock crime scenes and hands-on lab work. They dust for fingerprints, collect samples, locate bomb fragments and identify evidence. Students also learn how to organize information critical to both criminal investigation and prosecution. Field trips to local crime labs and talks from guest lecturers provide a view into the life of a criminologist. The course culminates in a mock crime scene investigation – a realistic mystery to solve!
