This fantastic new course integrates industrial design, entertainment design, space planning, basic physics and math – all through the lens of amusement park design. This gives students the chance to learn and apply a wide range of tools that professional designers and engineers use every day in the scope of their projects.

How do you design and build the amusement park experience? What makes rides fun? What makes them safe? What makes them work? Students examine the project from all angles. They consider space planning and visitor traffic flow. They develop a theme for the experience and ways in which to implement it. Then, they
focus on a few key elements to hone the design process.

Through designing roller coaster or other thrill rides, they are introduced to the basic engineering and physics involved. Throughout the project, students work through a specific design process that gives them a toolkit of skills – market research, inspiration and audience boards, layout and design sketches, model-making and presentation. And all students visit Amusement Park for fun and inspiration!
